The Details deconstruction team brought well-honed skills and professionalism to the job site, and began work immediately. Deconstructing a whole house– both interior and exterior– can be hard work, but the Details team jumped right in.
Outside of Washington, D.C. is a desirable suburb in Maryland called Kensington. The owners of an old-fashioned rancher in the adorable town were looking to remove it in favor of a house that matched their contemporary aesthetic. Their craftsman encouraged them to contact us to avoid wasteful demolition and preserve the house’s many interesting features. They were thrilled to learn that many of the items could be salvaged for reuse, and we got to work. By the time we finished, nearly 3 full box trucks of rescued material were transported to another non-profit where they found a new home. Our presence even sparked interest among Kensington neighbors, encouraging dialogue about the social, environmental and economical benefits of deconstruction and the bold wastefulness of demolition.
